Retired Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Tom Sullivan, a crew member aboard USCGC Eagle (WIX 327), conducts conceptual seamanship training to Eagle’s permanent crew and members of sailing organization Tall Ships America aboard the cutter, April 26, 2023, while underway in the Atlantic Ocean. Eagle conducted a four-month summer deployment to teach practical seamanship skills to officer candidates from the U.S. Coast Guard and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Corps, foreign military personnel, and shared best practices with sailing organization Tall Ships America, while cadets and crew facilitated diplomatic engagements with U.S. allies in Northern Europe, the Portuguese archipelagoes of the Azores and Madeira, and Bermuda.
