Craig Fugate, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, visited a disaster relief center in the Queens area of New York City where he briefed FEMA Corps youth members on the import role that FEMA had in assisting survivors of disasters. FEMA Corps youth focus on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities, providing support in areas ranging from working directly with disaster survivors to supporting disaster recovering centers to sharing valuable disaster preparedness and mitigation information with the public.
