The embassy colors are taken down prior to evacuation during a non-combatant evacuation operation (NEO) training event facilitated by Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG), II Marine Expeditionary Force for the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) during Amphibious Ready Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise (ARGMEUEX) on Stone Bay, North Carolina, April 24, 2023.
During NEOs, the U.S. Department of Defense assists the U.S. Department of State in the mandatory or voluntary departure of U.S. citizens and approved personnel to an appropriate safe haven. The complex challenges that EOTG provides during ARGMEUEX requires the coordination of all elements of the MEU and their Navy teammates, ensuring that they will be a more flexible, dynamic and lethal force-in-readiness.
