230320-N-MQ841-1002 CHANGWON, South Korea (March 20, 2023) – Utilitiesman 2nd Class Jamal Mccrae (left) and Builder 3rd Class Brandon Barley (right), both assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, along with Republic of Korea (ROK) Seabees, shovel dirt to fill concrete masonry unit blocks during a joint Port Damage Repair exercise onboard ROK Jinhae Naval Base, South Korea March 20. NMCB-5 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories to support and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB-5 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction.
