Personnel assigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) conduct an honorable carry ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, May 3, 2023. The possible remains returned from Kwajalein Atoll; an island part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, which was utilized during the U.S. island hopping campaign during World War II. The possible osseous remains were part of a unilateral transfer following an excavation carried out by the U.S. Army Garrison Kwajalein and will now be received and analyzed at the DPAA Hawaii laboratory for possible identification.
