USCGC Eagle crew members conduct man-overboard drills

Petty Officer 1st Class April Forrest, center, a boatswain’s mate assigned to USCGC Eagle (WIX 327), makes log entries in Eagle’s pilothouse while Petty Officer 1st Class Nathan Bush, an afloat training officer assigned to Afloat Training Organization Northwest in Everett, Washington, verifies the logs to confirm an accurate bearing for the cutter during a man-overboard drill, May 1, 2023, while underway in the Atlantic Ocean. Eagle conducted a four-month summer deployment, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, to teach practical seamanship skills to officer candidates from the U.S. Coast Guard and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Corps, foreign military personnel, and shared best practices with sailing organization Tall Ships America, while cadets and crew facilitated diplomatic engagements with U.S. allies in Northern Europe, the Portuguese archipelagoes of the Azores and Madeira, and Bermuda.
