GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Mar. 27, 2023) Machinery Repairman (MR) 1st Class Jonathan P. Nguyen, a Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command instructor, explains the significance of honoring fallen servicemembers to Zion-Benton Township High School Naval Junior Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets in the MR “A” School Machinery Repairman 3rd Class (SW) Jack Valentine graduation room. Valentine died as a result of injuries he sustained while aboard the USS Frank Cable (AS 40), Dec. 1, 2006. Valentine is a former Zion-Benton Township High School cadet. The cadets toured the complex to pay respects to Valentine. Remembering the selfless sacrifices of those who’ve serve before ourselves feeds citizenship development continuum instilled in NJROTC cadets.
