U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Kyle Veurink, an F-22 Raptor craftsman assigned to the 90th Air Maintenance Unit, connects a repositioning tool to an F-22 in preparation of an afterburner run at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, April 19, 2023. The afterburner run was conducted to ensure the correct transfer of fuel for aircraft 146, one of the final tests the aircraft had to undergo over a five-year period to return to operational status after its crash at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada, in 2018. Aircraft 146 conducted a successful functional check flight and returned to the operational fleet May 4. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class J. Michael Peña)
