SAGAMI WAN (April 28, 2023) – Damage Controlman 1st Class Brandon Carrick dons an emergency escape breathing device (EEBD) during an engineering casualty drill aboard U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). EEBDs are short-term breathing devices used to escape smoke-filled spaces in an emergency situation. Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy and, as 7th Fleet command ship, actively works to foster relationships with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
