U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Katherine Valley, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) research analyst, holds an American flag prior to draping it over a casket during a disinterment ceremony at the National Memorial Ceremony of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, May 8, 2023. The DPAA disinterred seven caskets containing approximately 55 individuals as part of the Enoura Maru Project; an on-going effort by the DPAA to disinter, transport, and identify missing POWs from World War II. The remains were taken to the DPAA laboratory on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for further scientific analysis and possible identification. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Cole Yardley.)
