    155th Air Refueling Wing, Nebraska Air National Guard

    U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle fighter jet assigned to the California Air National Guard's, 144th Fighter Wing flies up to the boom on Nebraska’s KC-135 Stratotaanker to gas up on April 25, 2023. The fight was in honor of World War II veteran James K. Kunkle as he served as a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot during World War II and flew P-38 and P-57 aircraft. Kunkle received the Distinguished Service Cross for engaging 20 German aircraft and downing two of them.
