U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Keithshawn Bailey, a Bridgeport, Connecticut, native and a high mobility artillery rocket system crew chief with Hotel Battery, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, under tactical control of Task Force 61/2 conducts a radio check during Formidable Shield in Andoya, Norway on May 10, 2023. “I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to do something more with my life and now I am.” said Bailey. “Being a chief is the best job in the entire Marine Corps. You get to be in charge of 6-8 Marines who you get to build up, you get to shoot a really cool weapon system and you get to deploy to places like Norway.” Formidable Shield is a biennial, integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) exercise involving a series of live-fire events against subsonic, supersonic, and ballistic targets, incorporating multiple Allied ships, aircraft, and ground forces working across battlespaces to deliver effects.
