U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jeff W. Mathis III, commander, Joint Force Land Component Command Coordination Element, met with firefighters from Ladder 12, New York Fire Department, Manhattan, N.Y., to thank them for their hurricane relief efforts in the N.Y. and N.J. area, Nov. 8, 2012. After a lunch with the firefighters, Maj. Gen. Mathis posed for a photo holding a picture of Michael Mullan, a fallen firefighter from Ladder 12, who died trying to rescue those trapped inside of the World Trade Center, Sept. 11, 2001 (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
