U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Todd R. Wasmund, commanding general of U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF) and SETAF-AF Command Sgt. Maj. Reece Teakell, stand with Sgt. Bradon Williams and Spc. Jacob Zane, from 1-503 Infantry Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade, during the 2023 Best Squad Competition closing ceremony, hosted by U.S. Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), at Caserma Del Din, Vicenza, Italy on April 25, 2023. Williams earned the title, "Iron Soldier" for the highest Army Combat Fitness Score registered during the competition. Zane earned top honors for the best essay among all the participants. The Army Best Squad Competition tests Soldiers on their individual and collective ability to adapt to and overcome challenging scenarios and battle-readiness events that test their physical endurance, technical skills, and tactical abilities under stress and extreme fatigue.(U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt.
