Oregon Department of Forestry firefighters set a controlled blaze during training for 173rd Fighter Wing Airmen who will respond to wildland fires if tasked by the state of Oregon during high fire season, May 7, 2023. The training took place near Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Ore., and serves to ready Oregon Air Guardsmen to aid the state when wildland fires outpace state resources during hot summer months under the auspices of Operation Plan Smokey.
