A U.S. Marine with 2d Reconnaissance (Recon) Battalion, 2d Marine Division conducts an above water purge during Exercise Caribbean Coastal Warrior in Savaneta, Aruba, May 19, 2023. Purging is when all water and other gasses are removed from the underwater breathing system in order to prevent difficulty breathing underwater and to not mix different gasses together. This bilateral training exercise allows 2d Recon to expand its knowledge and proficiency when operating in littoral and coastal regions. Caribbean Coastal Warrior continues to increase global interoperability between the U.S. Marines and the Dutch Marines as well as Caribbean Urban Warrior, an annual training evolution conducted on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.(U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
