ALBANIA, May 24, 2023 – New Jersey Army National Guard Soldiers (Right) Sgt. DeWayne Odem, adjusts (Left) Pfc. Dairy Moya assigned to the 50th Chemical Company, 42nd Regional Support Group, demonstrates securing the protective hood to the Kosovo Security Force Hazmat Company soldiers during Defender Europe 2023. Exercises such as Defender Europe 2023 help solidify relationships and prepare allied forces against potential threats. DEFENDER 23 is a U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) joint exercise designed to enable combat-ready, multinational forces. DEFENDER 23 demonstrates USAREUR-AF’s ability to aggregate U.S.-based combat power quickly in Eastern Europe, increase lethality of the NATO alliance, build unit readiness in a complex, joint, multinational environment, and leverage host nation capabilities to increase USAREUR-AF’s operational reach.
