Mary Geffs, with Strategy and Development of Plans and Posture with the office of Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, is shown how the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) is maneuvered during a tour of the ship, on the Atlantic Ocean, May 23, 2023. This visit served to inform leaders from N95, OSD Cost Assessment & Program Evaluation (CAPE) and Policy of the operational capabilities embarked aboard the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) shipping and demonstrate long range capabilities in support of expeditionary advanced base operations, direct action raids, and maritime interception operations in preparation for the upcoming deployment.
