Amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) steams through the Pacific Ocean, May 28, 2023. John P. Murtha is the 10th San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock capable of carrying two landing craft-air cushions or one landing craft unit with an embarked Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and John P.
