A U.S. Marine with Bravo Company, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division sits at an observation post (OP) during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX), at Alexandria, Alabama on May 22, 2023. An OP is a temporary or fixed position from which Marines can watch enemy movements, to warn of approaching enemies, or to direct fire. Expeditionary Operations Training Group organized COMPTUEX as the culminating exercise in the 26th MEU’s Pre-deployment Training Program, providing realistic training and scenarios to reinforce the MEU’s capabilities as a crisis response force prior to deployment.
