U.S. Navy Lt. Thomas Smith, an airboss with the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), uses a sextant to measure the distance to the USNS Patuxent (T-AO-201) prior to executing a replenishment at sea during Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), Atlantic Ocean, May 28, 2023. The USNS Patuxent provided replenishment in the form of fuel, food and other supplies at sea when needed. C2X is the last at-sea period of the pre-deployment training program for the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Michele Clarke)
