U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Chris Donahue, XVIII Airborne Corps Commanding General, serves as the Veteran of the Day on June 1, 2023, and leads the Sunset Liberty March along the path to remember the fallen troops who served in the America’s wars to maintain a lasting freedom. The SLM is a 0.6-mile hike to honor veterans past and present and to pay respects for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Anyone can walk in the SLM which starts at sunset near the intersection of Honeycutt Road and Liberty Trail (formerly Bragg Blvd.) at sunset 365 days a year and ends near the intersection of Butner Road and R. Miller Street (formerly Randolph St.) where the Liberty Marcher salutes the flag.
