During his recent visit to Navy Medicine Readiness Training Command Bremerton, Dr. Lester Martinez-Lopez, Department of Defense’s new assistant secretary for health affairs, is briefed by Lt. Jason Balazs, certified registered nurse anesthetist, on the process improvement project “Planning for Manning,” which hospital corpsmen assigned to Directorate Surgical Services Anesthesia department initiated to mitigate a staff shortage concern. The project was recognized with the 2023 Rear Adm. Lewis E.
