U.S. Army paratroopers with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, and others attend a D-Day ceremony at Picauville, France, June 2, 2023, in honor the fallen Soldiers of the 90th Infantry Division who gave their lives to free the town.
At a staggering cost of 10,000 Allied casualties, D-Day did not just change the fate of World War II. By preserving the cherished ideals of liberty, democratic values and human dignity, Allied victory changed the course of human history.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
