United States Navy Band member Musician 1st Class Peter Pirotte, from Raleigh, N.C., provides musical instruction during the Navy Band’s audition intensive partnership weekend with the National Alliance for Audition Support. 20 students from Black and Latinx backgrounds traveled to Washington D.C., to receive free individual lessons, group masterclasses, and mock audition practice from the Navy’s premier musical organization. Diversity, equity and inclusion efforts like the audition intensive increase professional opportunities for musicians from underrepresented communities and help attract the finest talent for potential careers in Navy Music.
