U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Toby Johnson, a rifleman with Battalion Landing Team 1/6, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit embarks a MV-22 Osprey aboard San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19). Elements of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit executed a simulated airfield seizure from the ships of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group in order to set conditions to establish a forward arming and refueling point, during Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), Atlantic Ocean, May 30, 2023. The speed with which the Marines were able to establish the FARP demonstrates a capability that critical t conducting expeditionary operations in a contested environment.
