Mike Kinter, deputy commander of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, salutes a U.S. Navy Sailor as he prepares to launch from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in an F/A-18E Super Hornet from the “Kestrels” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 137 during an aerial change of command ceremony for CVW-17. Nimitz is in U.S. 7th Fleet conducting routine operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
