Aircraft loadmaster Master Sgt. Tristan Maxwell of the 144th Airlift Squadron, Alaska Air National Guard, directs the loading of a towing vehicle into a C-17 Globemaster III heavy airlift aircraft at Selfridge Air National Guard Base on June 1, 2023. The overnight aerial movement was part of a deployment exercise to maintain readiness and improve reaction times for projecting defense assets from Selfridge ANGB to any location around the globe. Selfridge ANGB serves as a vital loading, offloading and logistics hub for rapid air transport to strategic deployed areas around the world in addition to supporting a wide range of critical missions including tactical close air support and aerial refueling.
