230608-N-IL330-1501 SAN DIEGO (June 08, 2023) – Amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) Commanding Officer Capt. Daniel Keeler greets loved ones as the ship returns to Naval Base San Diego following a seven-month deployment to the Indo-Pacific region, June 8, 2023. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks Anchorage and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participated in multiple training exercises with international partners while deployed in support of regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
