Sailors and Marines assigned to amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) man the rails as the ship returns to Naval Base San Diego following a seven-month deployment to the Indo-Pacific region, June 8, 2023. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and John P. Murtha, with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participated in multiple training exercises with international partners while deployed in support of regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
