U.S. Marines grapple each other during a Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course (MCMAIC) culminating event, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, June 9, 2023. The culminating event served as the final test of a grueling three week course before the Marines are awarded the coveted Martial Arts Instructor Tab. The course entailed hand-to-hand combat, warrior ethos instruction, grappling, and weapons sparring training with the goal of graduating as a Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor, which certifies Marines to train and test other Marines in various belt levels of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.
