Sgt. Xavier Mantock addresses his fellow graduates as the student speaker at the Graduation Recognition Ceremony on June 9 at Fort Drum. Originally from Jamaica, Mantock enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 2013. He entered active-duty service several years later as an infantryman, and he recently completed a deployment to Syria. Mantock earned an associate degree in educational studies from Empire State University, and he plans on pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a goal of teaching English language and literature.
