The Veterans of Foreign Wars flag is carried for a Hawaiian blessing and invocation during a ceremony in recognition of National Flag Day, hosted by the Military Order of the World Wars and the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Oahu Veterans Center, Honolulu, June 14, 2023. Approved by Congress as a National observance on August 3, 1949, Flag Day commemorates the date in 1777 in which the first design of the national flag of the United States of America was approved.
