Hospital corpsman are enlisted medical sailors who fill critical roles by serving in Marine units, military treatment facilities, and aboard submarines and surface ships as independent duty corpsman. The Hospital Corps was established on June 17, 1898, and comprises more than 26,000 active duty and reserve hospital corpsman that practice or train in 40 technical specialties.
