U.S. Marines and guests bow their heads during Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 12 change of command ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, June 22, 2023. During the ceremony, U.S. Marine Corps Col. Derek M. Brannon, outgoing commanding officer of MAG-12, relinquished command to Col. Kyle B. Shoop. MAG-12 is the tactical arm of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. The mission of MAG-12 is to conduct air operations in support of Fleet Marine Forces, to include: close air support, aerial refueling, anti-air warfare, and assault support from advanced, expeditionary, and sea bases.
