Alvin Holsey, U.S. Southern Command military deputy commander, passes through sideboys as he arrives to the Joint Task Force-Bravo change of command ceremony June 22, 2023, at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. The Navy’s tradition of posting sideboys comes from the era of sail, when Sailors would hoist dignified guests aboard a ship on a boatswain’s chair and pulley system.
