JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON – (June 22, 2023) – Lt. Rachel Robeck, a physician assistant assigned to Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine Directorate of Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, was presented the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal by Commanding Officer Capt. Gerald DeLong during an All Hands meeting held at the Military and Family Readiness Center. Robeck was selected by the commanding officer of Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC) as the 2022 Naval Medical Research and Development Enterprise Junior Officer of the Year. NAMRU San Antonio is one of the leading research and development laboratories for the U.S. Navy under the Department of Defense (DoD) and is one of eight subordinate research commands in the global network of laboratories operating under NMRC in Silver Spring, Md. Its mission is to conduct gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DoD personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
