An A-10C Thunderbolt II ground attack and close air support aircraft of the 107th Fighter Squadron, the "Michigan Red Devils", launches on a training sortie from Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, on June 27, 2023. In addition to routinely scheduled training activities, two A-10C Thunderbolt IIs from the 107th FS of the 127th Wing at Selfridge participated in a flight commemorating the 100th anniversary of aerial refueling. A KC-135T Stratotanker aerial refueling aircraft can be seen taxiing to takeoff position behind the A-10C. The KC-135T Stratotankers of the 171st Aerial Refueling Squadron are a key strategic and tactical force multiplier for every Air Force aerial asset, from the B-2 Spirit strategic bomber to the C-17 Globemaster III tactical transport and nearly every other aircraft in U.S. Air Force inventory.
