Selfridge Air National Guard Base firefighters (from left to right), Russell Simons, John Battistelli, Todd Cooper and Dan Bowles are accompanied by Lt. Ken Hardin (background, right) of the 127th Civil Engineer Squadron's Fire Department on June 30, 2023. The award-winning team of firefighters repurposed a building at Selfridge ANGB, Michigan, undergoing planned demolition for use as a realistic rescue and firefighting resource. The building under planned demolition, which is being replaced by a brand new structure to begin construction soon, was used to perform wall penetration training and ingress/egress exercises under realistic conditions.
