The helicopter rope suspension techniques course creates HRST masters which are capable of supporting fast rope, rappel, and special patrol insertion/extraction operations from any U.S. Marine Corps helicopter and tiltrotor aircraft as a means to insert and extract ground forces into or from rough terrain and urban areas.
