Three U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle aircraft conduct a missing man formation to honor U.S. Air Force Col. Ernest De Soto, a pilot killed in 1969 during the Vietnam War, during his funeral June 30, 2023, at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, Calif. De Soto’s remains were discovered in 1995, but it took the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) more than 20 years to recover, identify and return them to his family.
