A U.S. Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1/6, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)), fast-ropes aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Atlantic Ocean, July 17, 2023. Fast-roping is a tactical maneuver used to quickly insert troops into austere terrain in which a helicopter may not be able to land.
