Vice Adm. Kevin J. Cosgriff, commander, Combined Maritime Forces renders a salute during the parading of the colors during a change of command ceremony held at the Bahraini Naval Headquarters March 4. This ceremony marks the first time coalition forces by a Gulf nation have taken command of Combined Task Force 152, which is responsible for Maritime Security Operations in the Central and Southern Persian Gulf. Maritime Security Operations help set the conditions for security in the maritime environment. From security arises stability that results in global economic prosperity. MSO complements the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
