Carolina, Puerto Rico,August 6, 2020- Funds approved for 1,624 small permanent projects in Puerto Rico. These are part of a total investment of $820 million in permanent infrastructure and are integrated into 2,374 permanent projects approved in the first seven months of the year.
We announce, together with COR3, the allocation of funds for 1,624 small projects of permanent infrastructure that will help rebuild the communities affected by Hurricane Maria. The projects in this particular category amount to $65 million in federal grants.
Some of the projects are:
$75,000 to pave and reinforce the bridge and Highway 18 in the San José neighborhood in the municipality of Quebradillas. This project has a significant impact on over 10 resident families in the area.
$44,000 to repair the Recreational Plaza of the Autonomous Municipality of Cataño. An emblematic and converging space for residents and visitors.
$93,000 for improvements to the basketball court and baseball park located in the Algarrobo neighborhood of the municipality of Aibonito.
FEMA continues to work with the Government of Puerto Rico and COR3 to develop strategies for recovery projects on the island. To date, approximately $7.2 billion has been approved for these projects.FEMA/Eduardo Martínez
