U.S. Marines and Sailors with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)) raise the American Flag during a man the rails ceremony aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Naval Base Norfolk, Virginia, July 10, 2023. Manning the rails is a long-standing naval tradition performed prior to a warship departing for an overseas deployment. The 26th MEU(SOC) and Bataan ARG are trained and certified in a wide range of flexible capabilities across the spectrum of military conflict. Throughout their deployment, they will train and conduct operations alongside Allies and Partners, improving interoperability while demonstrating the combat power and flexibility of the Navy-Marine Corps team.
