On July 31, 2023 Marines with Recruiting Station Dallas attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the LtCol. W.G. Leftwich, Jr. Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Facility at the International Leadership of Texas High School in Garland, Tx. LtCol. Williams was a highly decorated Marine Corps Officer who served during the Vietnam War and was known for his outstanding leadership until his death in 1970 while participating in an emergency extraction. In attendance were the Mayor of Garland, Mr. Scott Lemay, and the son of Williams, Jr., Marine Corps Retired Maj. William G. Leftwich, III.
