U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a German sailor with 5th Platoon, German Coastal Operations Sea Battalion, hold security during a helicopter raid exercise for Talisman Sabre 23, at Stanage Bay, Queensland, Australia, Aug. 2, 2023. We strengthen existing alliances and partnerships, and cultivate new ones, through development of interoperable capabilities, combined operations, theater security cooperation, and capacity-building efforts. TS23 is the largest bilateral military exercise between Australia and the United States advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening relationships and interoperability among key allies and enhancing our collective capabilities to respond to a wide array of potential security concerns.
