Cpl. David Mayes, the chief trainer for the military working dog section with PMO and a Johnstown, Pa., native, trains Xxerxes, his military working dog, to be obedient to his owner at the Provost Marshal’s Officer aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Dec. 4. Belgian Malinois and German Shepherds are usually the breeds used as military working dogs, because they are very obedient.
