Japan Self-Defense Force 1st Lt. Tsuyoshi Nakamura, a member of the 15th Military Intelligence Unit (MIU), explains the capabilities of the MIU’s maritime radar systems during a static equipment display on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, July 25, 2023. The static display was held by Marines from 3rd Intelligence Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, and members of the JSDF MIU to learn about each other’s equipment and sensing capabilities. III MIG functions as the vanguard of III MEF, operating in the Indo-Pacific regions information environment, and supports Marine Air Ground Task Force operations with communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison capabilities.
