U.S. Marines aboard a UH-1 Iroquois helicopter fly in support of an unmanned aerial system delivering medical supplies to medics providing treatment to a simulated injured person during Exercise Northern Strike 2023, at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Michigan, Aug. 10, 2023. The Marines are members of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 167. During the exercise, medics at a remote location needed specific supplies to assist a simulated injured person. The UAS was able to deliver those supplies on a timely fashion, speeding the delivery of medical care to the injured member. The rapid delivery of medical supplies is just one of numerous innovation projects being supported by the Kelly Johnson Joint All-Domain Innovation Center, a Michigan National Guard program that is building partnerships between industry, DoD research agencies and academia. Exercise Northern Strike 2023 is a premier reserve component training event that integrates both U.S. and partner nation readiness training to building interoperability and strengthen partnerships in an all-domain environment.
